Niederreiter Family

Meet your hosts at the Hotel Niederreiter in Maria Alm

The Hotel Niederreiter has been owned and run by the Niederreiter family for three generations and can look back on a successful  history. We have put together an overview of the most important milestones in the development of the Hotel Niederreiter, from its foundation through to the present day.

The story starts in 1964 when the grandparents of the owner today, Johann and Antonia Niederreiter, began to build a café. Work was completed a year later, with the newly opened café also featuring four rooms for guests to stay the night. In 1971 the first major redesign took place: a restaurant and twelve new rooms were added. In 1980 both the restaurant and the café were comprehensively renovated, with the total number of guest rooms being increased once again to create a total of 34 rooms.
In 1989 the adjacent building ("Herzog Haus") was bought and incorporated into the existing site with the addition of asauna, sunbed, whirlpool, gym, TV

room and children's playroom. At that time the hotel had 80 beds.
In 1998 Johann Niederreiter Junior and his wife, with their three children, took over the running of the hotel, renovated the existing rooms and added six new ones. It was during this time that the Hochkönig Room was created.
In December 2014 their daughter Eva Niederreiter came on board and today runs the hotel together with her parents. Her two younger brothers work in other fields but continue to support the family wherever possible with the management of the hotel.
